The Organization

Treating genetic neurological diseases at the source. VICO Therapeutics is a leader in RNA modulation with antisense oligonucleotides focused on genetic neurological disorders. The mission is to bring innovative RNA modulating therapies to patients with genetic neurological diseases.

Together with a team of skilled scientists and drug development professionals, VICO’s focus is on development of RNA modulating therapies for rare neurological disorders, with initial focus on SCA – Spinocerebellar ataxia, HD – Huntington’s disease and RETT syndrome. The team has a long standing expertise in antisense oligonucleotide technology and a majority of employees have worked most of their professional careers on RNA-modulating therapeutics for rare diseases.

VICO’s pipeline of programs includes VO659, currently being developed for multiple polyglutamine disorders, spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 and type 1 and Huntington’s disease. Since early this year we started clinical studies in numerous countries throughout Europe.

The vision is to become a recognized leader in developing antisense oligonucleotide RNA modulators for genetic neurological disorders and to establish an organization that fosters positive and collaborative relationships with patients, physicians, partners, community members and fellow employees.

Job Description

As a hands-on Manager Finance & Accounting your primary focus is the end-to-end responsibility for all accounting and internal control activities. You will act as the financial conscience of the organization and act as a sparring partner for accounting and controlling related matters for the management team, board of directors and investors. You are the owner of periodic management reporting on actual performance and variance driver explanations. You are also the primary link with external auditors and valuation companies.

In this role you manage the financial department with the assistance of one financial accounting specialist. The department will also be expanded with a Financial Planning & Analysis specialist. You prepare all financial reports and report to the management team. You coordinate an audit trail of budget approvals to ensure assumptions are transparent, changes are documented and evolution cost and scope is clearly understood and reflected in the financials. You also oversee the payroll administration and payroll.

You work closely together with the management and procurement team to ensure that activities and contractual commitments are accurately reflected in the financial system. In addition, you are responsible for the cap table and ESOP registration. You also manage all tax related matters, including the tax strategy.

The clinical trials take place in nine different countries, which means you have to dive into the rules and regulations of the finance aspect. You will oversee and give direction to external advisors that aid with unfamiliar topics.

Your Profile

We are looking for a Manager Finance & Accounting that is able to work autonomously and takes responsibility for the entire finance department within VICO Therapeutics. You work meticulously and have a good overview of what needs to be done within what time frame. You are hands on and flexible.

You are a great communicator that knows how to act quickly when necessary. You are the financial for all accounting operations and possess evident leadership capabilities in supporting the management team with financial analysis for short and longer-term strategies. You are proactive and driven to further improve the organization within your specialty. You dare to make decisions and take ownership of your department.

The person we are looking for identifies with the following profile:

• Preferably a master’s degree in a relatable field;
• 8-10 years of relevant work experience;
• Excellent command of the Dutch and English language, spoken and written.
• Fit with Vico culture: collegial, pragmatic, down to earth.
• Knowledge of IFRS is a plus;
